Default Data charges

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I'm on a corporate plan with 1 MB data included. I received a copy of my bill and noticed I used around 15 MB (!) last month. The bill doesn't break down exactly how the data was used, just *when* then data was used. I plan on calling Rogers to see what types of data uses rack up the largest charges, but I thought I'd run the question by you guys as well. These are the ways I use data, please tell me what the main culprit is for my charges if you can:

-send about 5-10 emails per day
-use the Blackberry browser about once per day (note: I have RSS feeds bookmarked, which automatically update throughout the day, but I don't necessarily check them on the browser; could that be a main cause of the data charges?)
-attach pictures to emails (I'm thinking this could be a big one)
-have a weather network "push service" icon on the home screen, automatically updating twice per day

Any insights would be great. Thanks.

Sounds like Rogers charging reflects a big country with relatively few users (a lot of leased lines rather than "owned" infrastructure).

1mb a month on a Corp. bundle seems ludicrous.

Given your usage is 500KB a day and you send 5-10 e-mails a day, some with pictures, I think your usage is pretty easily accounted for. Your usage is far lower than many here I would imagine and certainly couldn't be construed as frivolous (I use about 10mb a day personally and around 15mb of works). Don't forget you are likely to be charged for receiving mail to the device (I'm unaware of how Rogers prices BB).

I would suggest working out a better deal with Rogers rather than looking at usage, but would drop the feeds and weather updates if I had to.

cheers

I'm on Robbers...oops I mean Rogers as well. I just went through this with them. 1MB on a corporate plan??
WTF is that. I complained why there is no discount offered for corporate plans. The Data CS rep, didn't have an answer, but she did agree that 1MB for a month is pretty low. So she upped me to 25MB per month for $60.00, and gave me Three months Unlimited Data usage on BB. SO I used the DATA, and BROWSER all weekend for anything I could think of...LOL
Just call and complain they should help you out, just don't back down..... The more Rogers customer complain I hope this prompts them to look into changing their prices.

Anything that updates automatically via the internet uses data, regardless of whether or not you access it via a browser. That is your culprit.

You're telling us. When I saw that you guys can get an unlimited data package for $19.99 USD ($24 CAD) and compared it to Rogers pricing, we pay $25 for 0.5MB $40 for 1MB $45 for 2MB $60 for 25MB $65 for 50MB and $100 for 200 MB

I can't help but feel we're getting jipped. Whats the cap on the unlimited in the US?

OMG!! I don't think there is a cap on the data for T-mobile. So what's the average someone pays on their data monthly to Rogers? I think I need to start a thread on this one.

Well, my last blackberry bill was well over $100 for a month on simply e-mail / bbmessenger.

It's stupid expensive for data here. That is until number portability comes out ;)
