Trouble Free... That's The Pearl For Me
Please Login to Remove!
After reading post upon post of issues, it's nice to sit back and realize I haven't really had any problems at all with my pearl.
Anybody else in this club?
I mean, all my OS upgrades went fine.
My 2gb card reads & works perfectly.
I get great battery life.
My files are always where they should be.
Internet is fast enough.
All programs operate & function normally.
There may have been a few instances of imperfection, but they were easily remedied and not an inherant fault of the phone.
In short, it's the best phone (etc.) I've owned.
Anybody else in the trouble-free zone?

Now I have the extra large battery, I'm in the same boat as you. No complaints from me. This is my second BB and I love this Pearl much more than my old 7290. Very stylish....

All in all this is the best phone (etc...) I have ever had. Opera mini is a must though, the browser was my only complaint!

I read a lot of threads here two with people having various problems. I havent had any. I am definitely in the same boat.
It really is the best phone I have ever had, with or without the blackberry portion. Sound quality, robustness (is that a real word), functionality, size and fun!

that and the video/music player. it's an ok first stab at including the features, but could've had a little more built into the media playback, but the 3rd party apps really make up for it.
I'm glad I mailed back my sidekick3 and became a blackberry owner.

My suspicion is that given the few people that are members of BBF who have complained about the Pearl [it's junk or whatever] in comparison to how many Pearls have been sold, is that the Pearl is a very good product and 99% of Pearl owners are satisfied customers.
Simply observing all the posts in here, most of those whom have complained about the Pearl have:
Abused the phone in some way.
Taken apart the Pearl to do a little self-help, such as cleaning the trackball.
Modified the Pearl to do whatever, such as modifying the battery cover for better speaker performance.
Goofed up the Pearl because they don't know how to do whatever, something as simple as inserting a SIMS, MicroSD card, or installing a skin.
As a first production item the Pearl can be micro-criticized, but all and all it does everything as advertised.
The few people that post in here that have problems do not represent the overall status of the Pearl in the market. Consider that a report said T-Mobile had a less than 1% return rate on the Pearl. To T-Mo that represented the Pearl being a complete success.
Frankly, I chuckle when people frantically post on BBF that they are having some problem, declare the phone the worst product on earth and then say they returned the phone.
I also question and find amusing people who post in here who do not even own a Pearl. They just talk in generalities and clutter up the 8100 section.
As a user of just about every consumer electronic device that a person can use, I am known for being hypercritical of any product I buy and use. To date I have seen nothing wrong with the Pearl to cause me to 1) take it back; 2) not consider it the best phone I have ever had; and 3) not recommend it to others.

I have the pearl hooked into my bluetooth puck in my car. It works flawlessly including the voice dialing. As a converged device everything works and all upgrades have fixed any nits I had. I have had every bb (857,957, 6230, 7230, 6510, 7510, 7520, 7100i, 8700c) and this is the best and best designed ever. Happy camper. I have gotten rid of my separate car phone am truly ecstatic.

Ditto!
No need for anything except a clip! Not even an extra battery.

I've had the battery cover issue on TWO Pearls, but wouldn't give it up. Love it. No other issues (well, except lack of soft reset, and auto-keylock, and I fixed both of those )

By far the best phone I've used as well. One detail that I hope can be resolved in the future would be the memory leak, but nothing's perfect right?

The BB browser (and mini opera for that matter) are pretty crude and some website won't load, and it would be nice if videos from news site, youtube, etc. would work, but I am pretty satisfied with the Pearl. Yes, I know its not a full-service desktop machine . But my move from a plain Jane cell phone to a phone/email/internet device is a pretty big step in the right direction, and I give the Pearl a thumbs up.

Pretty much trouble for me as well..
Had one incident where I had to reload my OS but other than that the Pearl has been a great device..
No problems with OS upgrades, miniSD card, 3rd party s/w, or pretty much anything else..

I've said this before, but the whole premise of an internet forum like BBF is to seek (free) help when things have gone awry, or if you have a question. That's why people like forums...its free help. No one's gonna post and say everything's working great, because it doesn't make discussion. Plus, everyone will think you're a pompous bastard and you like to rub it in everyone's face that your stuff works and their's doesn't.
Ya pompous bastard!
Just kiddin'.

Same here. If they could fix the mem leak and the hourglassing from time to time it would be perfect but these 2 things don't bother me much. I reset it with the softwre reset about once every 2 days just to clean the mem up.

for the most part I am in the same club. I am still on .42 because us MAC users have no way to update the OS unless we know someone who would let us use thier PC (all my frinds have mac). This is my first BB and wouldn't give it up. All is good. now if they could just support us Mac users a little more!
