has this been fixed on the versions after .64?

Thanks!

Could be wrong, but I think that's the way "standby" works. Complete keyboard lockout... There's threads (i was looking yesterday) out there about the difference between locking the keys and standby mode.

True, but it shouldnt NOT let me answer the phone when I get a call. Half the time i have to just let it ring and the person then goes to voicemail. Then I have to call back. Totally sucks.

Anyone else have this issue?

There is an extensive thread on this subject here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...g-standby.html

Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed on OS releases after 4.20.0.69? This particular bug is my ONLY serious gripe about the BB 8100.

Hey

I just got my new bb pearl cingular and i was reading the forums, to see if I could do anything to the bb and what not. So I came across the "dim lighting" function that was available on the .42 version. It came with the .69 version but I really, really want the ability to have my screen lit up however long I want it to be lit up. So, the reason I am posting a reply to this threa is because should I upgrade to the .88 version or keep the .42 version? Granted its more than half of the newer version but the ability to keep my light lit up is really great. And, hey, if the phone seems to be running great, should I move it to the .88?

Thanks again guys.

The latest version release by Cingular is 4.2.0.71 (for the .88; that is the package number). It is slightly newer than 4.2.0.69, but the release note on what has changed is not available.

I'm not sure if its related to the new firmware or not, but I updated my TMO pearl from .64 to this new release, and while everything seems to be OK, now the 1 key does not dial my voicemail. It just says "Invalid Phone Number". I'll probably be wiping it and going back to .64 to see if it really was the update that did it.

Just go in to the phone app, click menu and go to Options.
Under voicemail, make sure you are dialing +18056377243, which is 805-MESSAGE. If not, change the number. It should then work.

I am having a problem with this firmware for sure.

When I start typing a name on the home screen and it starts showing possible contacts it gives me a java error 90% of the time.

Doing the exact same thing again right after gives no error.

I might have to go back to the last firmware if they don't come out with a new one soon.

Hmm.. I did double check that the VM# in options was correct, + and all, but for some reason it would never let me dial it. unless I used the menu to "Call Voicemail". I wiped and reloaded .64 and all seems fine now. Pah, I'm still not willing to call shennanigans on the new firmware though. It was probably just some obscure setting I failed to find.

I am on the .88 firmware and have not had a problem. Maybe I am just lucky.

BTW, for correctness, you should program all of your numbers with the +1 in front...

Please help...

I was halfway through putting the Cingular update on my Rogers Pearl and got an error message on the PC saying "Unable to complete loading operation. Unable to reconnect the device during a multi-stage load operation." I tried it all over again, and same thing!! I deleted the vendor file, and I think I followed all the other steps correctly.

Now I have no OS on my Pearl, and can't put one on!!!

PLEASE HELP.

Thanks.

Close Desktop Manager.

Use JL_Cmder to wipe the handheld. When it's done the device should show a 507 error.

Close JL_Cmder and open Desktop Manager.

Select USB from the connections menu.

Run Application Loader.

It should load the OS.

When it's done restore the backup file that it made the first time around... "loaderbackup.ipd" or something similar.

Default Help

i've been using the the .88 update since it's first release and has been working great but up until about 3 days ago. i've noticed severe battery drain and the only changes i can think of is me maxing out my 1 gig memory card and yahoo go needing to be updated. i've seen cleared out some of my memory card and have deleted yahoo go. let's see if that helps. anyone have this issue?

Not on my BB, but it was/is well know that Yahoo! Go on a S60 (back when it first came out, so maybe 1.0 version?) via the HoFo forums to be a serious battery killer. Everyone uninstalled Go to get back their battery life. So, I can surmise lightly that it might be killing a BB battery as well, based on past experience.

thanks, looks like yahoo go was the culprit. i think it stayed on and tried to continually upgrade to the newest version, even when the program was closed. a friend had the same issue but said if i download the newest yahoo go program it will go back to normal.
