Default music is really acting up

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

Just got my Pearl. Loving it, except for one problem. Sometimes my music plays just fine, other times it either pauses on its own or skips. Is the music playback affected by the signal strength? Sometimes I feel like that's the cause of the problem, as it has happened when I was close to the subway and in an elevator. I've made sure it's not a result of buttons being pressed in my pocket, as I've put it on locked mode and even held it out in my hand to make sure the mute button wasn't being pressed, all while hearing it skip along.

Is this a faulty unit and should I return it, or is there something I can do?

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks

It might be that the phone is using more processor power to increase the signal strenght, and in order to do so it has to take "its mind" off of the music app that is running. Idk if that makes sense or not.

Are other people having a similar problem or should I take my unit back for exchange?

You should probably call T-Mo to see if they have any solutions. It might be your phone, it might be the network. I think it is a reception issue. What you might be able to do is, go to an area where you get full reception and try it out there, that way the processor will be ruled out/ detected as the culprit.

Could it be your music?

I've played songs that sometimes work perfectly and sometimes don't, so I don't think it's the music. I'm with Rogers in Canada. I feel like it is a reception issue, but I've had mp3 phones in the past and it's never been a problem.

Okay, I've just figured out that it's the headphones. When I play speakerphone, it plays totally smoothly. When I play music through my headphones, it skips or, for some reason, goes to voice dailing. I'm using Motorola stereo headphones that worked fine with my mp3 phone. I thought you could use any brand of 2.5 mm stereo headphones with the Pearl, no? Tomorrow I'll be able to try the Blackberry headphone that came with the Pearl and hopefully that will make the difference.

Yes there is a know issue with the Pearl headphone jack. You can either use the headphone that came with it, buy an adapter from seidio, or get the jabra c220.

Thanks a lot for your help Canonbomb. I guess I wasn't using the right words in my search. The music is coming through loud and clear now!

Thanks again.
