You may need to reinstall the OS to the PC, delete the vendor.xml file then do this:

How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

Without knowing just what you did i can't answer why it happened. However, I will admit that I've fubar'd a few BB's in my lifetime. You'll get it back. You have a backup so that's the important part.

You still haven't told me what the device is displaying right now. Is it still the black and white icons or is it spinning hourglass?

You need the OS installed and functional before worrying about restoring your data (from backup.)

Run apploader first and try and get the device back operational again.

Reload the OS to the PC, then while the BB has the spinning hourglass run apploader and go all the way through to the end.

If that doesn't fix it then use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and then reload the OS. Then when it's done, restore your backup.

I posted the link with instructions above. You'll need to wipe the device with JL_Cmder (in my sig) and then reload the OS again.

Using Vista? When you install JL_Cmder, right click on the file and select "run as administrator."

So, you downloaded JL_Cmder from my sig? Make sure you "save" and not "open." Then run the file from your pc to install it. Also, make sure Desktop Manager is closed and the BB not plugged in.

Sounds like you don't have the OS installed or you didn't delete the vendor.xml file.

hi. i'm new here and just got my 8320. I've been reading a lot and it is surely very helpful. going back to the first post regarding "blackberry.alx", do i have to remove every instance of "_vendorID" including the other things not related to the theme?

NOOOOO!!!!! Don't pull the battery! It will spin for up to 30 minutes after an OS reload.

It's all explained. You only have to remove the vendor coding if you want all the themes or you want to easily add and remove themes later. If you don't really understand the instructions, it's best to not attempt this.
