Default TEMP SRP Key

Please Login to Remove!

Is it possible to get a temp SRP key? We need to do a migration and need to setup a temporary BES server.

I believe with TXSupport you can request one and they are valid for 60 days or something like that.

Without TXSupport unsure if there is a cost for them.

If you download a trial version of BES you get a temp SRP with it.

Yeah,
Just goto the RIM site and register for a trial version of BES, they'll mail you with where to pick up the keys from.

Yep, we have done this. Works well, when old server is retired, you can then use that SRP on the server with the Temp-SRP. As always, never have two servers with the same SRP key up at the same time.

Default Ask for a migration key.

I got a "migration" key from our SAM.

That way I won't have to take the BES down and change the SRP after migration.

using a temp key for a migration is a BAD idea if you plan is to move people to the server with the temp SRP

best case you will be wiping and activating the devices twice

get a migration kit

If you have any level of TSupport, you can now request a migration key for free. Previously this was a rather large chuck of moolah.

This information is WRONG. There is no need to wipe / reactivate devices when changing SRPs. 4.x+ devices will get new service books automatically ... 3.x devices will need to tether.
