So, one post says you don't have a data plan and another says you do.
Knowing what one is isn't going to help the OS load to your device.

If you can't get your email on your BB then you won't be able to install OS 5.0. Find a friend with a data plan and put their sim in your phone then try again.

FINALLY! This is a life saver of a post. I just fully upgraded to the OFFICIAL Wind Hellas 5.0.0.509 OS, and i'm with Rogers Wireless......HOWEVER..

Just FYI for people running Windows 7, make sure you check everywhere in the c:\users\USERNAME\appdata.....for the Vendor.xml file. There's another "common files" folder there somewhere and in that is the extra Vendor.xml file. Also make sure to view all hidden files, because its hidden. I tried to do a search but i didn't get any search result for "Vendor" no idea why...so just make sure you manually look and delete.

Once i finally deleted both Vendor files my BB Desktop Manager recognized the new OS 5.0..., however once i clicked next...it said no update necessary...this is why you just bypass the DM all together and just use the "Loader" app. It does work beautifully.

I had a successful install of this newest OS, and there are no flaws at all, everything works! even facebook lol another good point of this OS is that it automatically updates your programs on initial startup This Curve 8900 is running wayyyy better than on the 4.6 OS

Hi all,

I have an 8900 and have done all the usual things (delete vendor.xml and disable auto updates) but my blackberry will not update. I am on Orange pay as you go which comes with a blackberry charge of £5 which includes 100mb of data.

My Laptop has windows 7 ultimate installed, is there a known issue of updates using this software ?

Any idea's ? Help please !!!

c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\
c:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore \Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\

After that just disconnect the internet and use loader.exe in c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\

If loader says the update is complete then it should be, did you see the BB reboot and the bars showing the upgrade procedure on your computer screen? How do you know that nothing changed? Are you checking "options->about"?

(By the way, there is release 5.0.0.681 for the 8900)
