Smile A Nice GMail App for 8700 - Message inbox work around

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Not sure this will work for everyone wanting "push" service for GMail via
BIS, but might work for some folks:

I was having issues dealing with the commingling of my
personal GMail via BIS and corporate Email via BES all in my
"Messages" inbox.

I decided to disable GMail via BIS.

I then tried GMail via my 8700e's Browser.

When I logged in, there was a link at the top of the GMail screen:

"Get faster Gmail"

Accessing this link will allow you to download a GMail app for the 8700e.

It places a GMail branded icon on your device desktop. In the options, you
can keep GMail logged on or you can set so you have to log on each browser session, based on your comfort level.

I've found by my staying logged on, the inbox refreshes fairly frequently, again, its not true "push" and no new message indication at the desktop level.

When you click on the icon and enter the GMail app, you can also just hit the toggle wheel and "Refresh" to update the GMail inbox.

Works for my needs and keeps my corp email and GMail segregated.

Hope this helps some folks out there!

There was some talk on this forum regarding this app about 1.5 months ago. A search will reveal the problems and advantages of the app.
