Exclamation Help! Connection and Contacts Restore

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I am just about as bad with technology as anyone can be! I plugged my Storm into my works computer as it told me I had updates. After taking almost 2 hours to load and install it tells me that there was an error and my data can not be restored!!

I have lost all of my contacts and messages! I tried to use the desktop manager restore but I cannot get the blackberry to connect to the computer!! The phone is only recognising the USB as a power supply!!

How do I get the computer to recognise the phone as a phone and sychronise with manager so I can try and restore???

I have a lot of VERY important contacts on my phone that I have been stupid enough not to back up on hard copy. This could have serious consequences on my job if I cannot get them back!!!

PLEASE HELP!!

Does your work block such things perhaps?

With your BB on, try pulling the battery for about 30 seconds, then reinsert and let the device reboot. Then try to reconnect to DM.

Make sure you aren't connecting via HUB, you must connect directly into the PC.

You should also be using the backup utility in Desktop Manager. A good safety precaution is to perform a backup before performing any update.

If what Dubdub suggested doesn't work, reboot the PC as well.
