hi there, i have a 8900 on orange and the screen broke on the phone, this was three weeks ago, i rung orange and told them about the broken screen and was told i would get a replacement but they wernt in stock at the time, i asked if i needed to keep my phone and was told to keep the battery cover, battery, sim and memory card, so i threw the broken phone out. now three weeks later they have the phone in stock and are sending me the new one, however someone has informed me when a new phone is sent you need to send back the old broken one, is this true? what will happen for me as i no longer have the old phone. will i still get the new one?

It is true they require you to return the old device
If you fail to return old device they will likely charge you for the replacements cost

Yes. For obvious reasons, they want the old phone. They don't work on the honor system.

Sure sounds like there was a miscommunication here. When they told you to keep the cover, battery and SIM, that is because insurance replacements are usually rebuilt devices and are sent to you without those parts. You would need them to have a complete replacement.

The rest of the device will have to be sent back or you will be charged...
