Too bad it won't work in any of our BB's yet. 2GB is the max (rumor has it 4Gb may work in the 8300.)

Is the 2G limitation on the 8100 set by hardware or software?

one post I read said it was a hardware issue, that the 1 and 2gb are 16bit and the 4 and 8 will be/are 32bit... but I do not know this for fact, never researched it... just passing it along

2gb is set by the software its not a hardware limitation

4gb support is coming in a new os update/release

I put movies on my BB media card last week to watch while I was flying cross country. I could only fit 5 hours of shows on my 2 Gig microsd. 8 Gig would have allowed me to carry enough shows to not only fill up the time in both directions, but also have a selection to choose from.
