Default blacked out with snake skin

Please Login to Remove!

Received my stuff from CNN

cnn blackberry stuff

keyboard with red numbers
black side buttons and mute button
red track ball
red snake skin battery cover

fit and finish is better then the oem stuff. My original battery cover was always loose, this new one fit nice and tight. Button fit very nice, trim nice and straight.

The only problem I had was the red pearl. When installed, it did not want to move up and ever other direction was crap. so I took it apart and cleaned the thing out because it felt a bit oily. After the re-install it still worked like crap. So I switched the balls out from the oem and new from the little holder and all is well now. I have notice the little white rollers were just a tad smaller in diameter.

So overall worth the look.

Ball looks orange in pics, but is very red in person.
I will be painting batter button later also....

When I received the housing for my Curve from CNN.CN, the entire trackball housing wasn't working. I don't know how it is on the bold, but for mine, I took out all the little magnets and found they were put in the wrong polarity. Flipped each one around and put it all together and I was golden. if the bold has the same little holder for the trackball, its worth looking at.

i believe they are the same. I did make sure the magnets were facing the same as my old one. The little white rollers that are attached to the magnets were just a tad smaller than my old ones.

I can't stop looking at the thing.

I got around to installing the battery door button release. It fits better than what was on there. The black is just off a little from the rest of the black, but you really can not tell unless you stare at it a bit. All in all, good product. Nice fit. Finish a little off.

I will post pics as soon as I can find my damn camera!! *sigh*

how was the installation process for the bezel?

BTW, i love your photos. i see the packing material to side and it looks like you just tore open the packing envelopes and installed everything at that moment.

install was very easy. Just be aware of the trackball position, if you are going to change that out. Other than that, the youtube video was all I need besides the tools.

Yes I was a little excited. I have also installed the battery button blacked out. Looks good with just having the little chrome nips on the sides.

i swapped my bezel on Friday. i did the red snake skin and black bezel, too, but kept all the chrome buttons, tho. i like the bit of contrast. it was an easy swap. i followed the step-by-step found here (thanks, michaelalanjones!):

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...erry-bold.html

a few installation notes:

1. step 11 in the above post: my new black bezel came with an unbranded face plate (that goes below the space bar). the post above calls this the "bottom part" and offers instructions to pry the old one off with a screwdriver and clip it into the new bezel. i didn't need to do this step, and kept the black unbranded plate.

2. in the above post, a comment was added from mikadad about a little screen. it is not referred to at all in michaelalanjones' directions. here's what i did to replace it:

remove small black rubber piece on lower right side of old bezel. this covers the tiny oval shaped screen mounted on the bezel. using a paper clip, i carefully poked the small screen away from the old bezel by poking the clip through the tiny hole (for handset microphone?) on the other side, once it was loose, i then used an exacto-type knife as a spatula to lift it off of the old bezel. there was enough adhesive still on the screen to stick it to the new bezel. then when i replaced the small rubber piece on the new bezel, it holds it in place nicely.

no need for photos. mine looks just like mrgm's with all my buttons still chrome.

(pg)

PS: one final comment: my snake skin cover's snake skin is mounted a little on the diagonal and is not straight "up and down". truthfully, it drove me nuts for about 5 minutes as i fought off my obsessive compulsive tendencies, but i'm over it now. i now notice in mrgm's photos it's the same on his.

i will say the cover is quite nice, the material fits tightly around the corners, it clips more tightly to my BB than my original black one. i'm very happy with cnn's quality.

That's a pretty sweet looking Bold! I must say, I have never seen so many mods available for a BB before the Bold.

I was gonna change the bezel on mine to black but I find it makes it look too much like the 8520...

Going with the gold and maybe a red/yellow trackball, not sure yet =[

But yours looks great man!
