Default Do Not Disturb

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Guys,

first post.

Ive recently got the blackberry bold 9700 and absolutely loving it, but im missing the out feature the Bold 9000 had which was the do not disturb in the profiles options..

Im in Australia so purchasing the "Do Not Disturb app" from the blackberry app store is no option as most countries like mine cant purchase apps..

so my questions are...

can i purchase it some other way via downloading it directly to the phone through browser or computer desktop?

is there any options that does exactly the same feature as do not disturb (doesnt ring, just displays miss call only..)?

i hope to get a reply as ive been searching effortlessly for days...

thanks guys...

cheers.

i dont think an app is necessary. you can adjust the parameters of each profile. just edit the silent profile not to ring.

Phone > Options > Call Forwarding.

Change from Conditional to Always.

That won't give him what he wants. He wants to see the missed calls, which on "always" won't appear.

Why don't just make a custom profile with no rings or notifications and just don't answer of you see that you're getting a call?

I mean when will you ever need it anyway?

Agreed, but that would answer the concerns regarding how alerts are handled...guess you can't always have it all. Especially with new OSes...

My Bold has a profile called "All Alerts Off". Would that work for you?

How about the old-fashioned GSM codes? You can set the ring time to 5 seconds before forwarding. Still wouldn't get the exact results you're looking for because you'd see the call screen for 5 seconds, but you would get the missed call notifications.

The GSM code would be *61*xxxyyyzzzz*11*5# (replace xxxyyyzzzz with your voicemail number)

hey guys,
thanks for your help but i really want the do not disturb feature...
any ways of someone sending the app? is it possible to upload do not disturb from os 4.x.xxx and install it onto os 5.x.....?

only reason i want this is because at uni, i dont want constant phone calls during class etc so i really want to know who called me, so i could contact them back immediately, instead of constant calls, ringing...

i still don't understand why you cant use the "silent" profile. it does what your explaining you want. it wont ring out loud, and it will alert you of a missed call or message

Yeah I've used it - most people don't even know it existed.

It's a lot more convenient using that feature than having a call coming in while your phone is tucked away in a pocket or wherever and might accidentally get answered etc - and it also let's ppl that call u often know that you're unavailable immediately w/out having to ring to vm. It's one of the first things I noticed missing when I got my 9700 because I had that profile loaded (xferred from old fone) and it rang! Sucks.

The "Do Not Disturb" feature on the Bold 9000 is a fantastic feature, unfortunatelly not standard on the 9700.
I am also interested in adding this feature to my 9700.
Anyone out there know how to get this ?

Is there anyway to copy the app Do Not Disturb from a 9000, via Desktop Manager, and then load it into a 9700 ?

I'm wondering whether we could create a hybrid OS using the net_rim_bb_profiles_*.cod files from a 9000 OS install folder...that might just do the trick.
