Default iPhone & Droid

I can't really blame droid phones.... but...

what is the deal with so many applications made for iPhones & Droids (that just came out!)? It is like, oh yay a new application... I look at what phones they offer it to.... iPhone, Droid, Android, etc... Everything is iPhone or Droid! Howcome I never see anything anymore for Blackberry phones? I feel as if they just forget about Blackberry phones and include these other phones. I almost want to sue Apple because of their iPhone monopoly. Everything is made for those phones... Blackberry is just forgotten now :(

And it makes me sad because I love my Storm. I loved my flip phone and any other blackberry phone. I still think its one of the best phones out there. I don't get it and I don't get why these companies won't market towards Blackberry as well.

Does anyone else get what I'm saying though or feel the same way?

It was like that in the heyday of Palm, when the devices were just a PDA and not a smartphone. I think they had something like a quarter of a million applications written. Some of those truly were fabulous; the majority were rubbish.

The thing is, Palm made it very easy to write apps for PalmOS, you didn't need to be a computer wizard. Same with Apple. One of my mates, who drives trucks for a living, wrote an app that when you shake the iPhone vigorously it makes a "Pop! ..fzzzz" sound like a carbonated beverage being released from a bottle. Most of the 150,000 apps are similarly useless, but there are those who think it's important to say there are so many available.

From my understanding its the developers(programers) choices on who to develop for. Iphone uses the Iphone OS, Googles phones use the Android OS, both of which get a percentage of sales. I'm sure that has an influcence on things. BB's use their own OS. Most of these developers don't do cross platform. So as in everything else you go where the money is.

Also, although BlackBerrys have added multimedia capabilities in recent years, the platform is remains first and foremost a business device. Professional-grade communications is the focus, so I would expect the majority of apps developed for the BB to be business-oriented. Web browsing on the BB is mediocre at best. Multimedia functions rate a solid "meh".

My wife has an iPhone and I frankly find most of the apps for it to be silly and useless. There's a bazillion of 'em, but 90% just leave me scratching my head. I find more than enough useful and productive stuff for BlackBerry. Of course I don't use my BB for entertainment. If your phone is 1/2 communicator and 1/2 entertainment device, maybe BlackBerry is the wrong platform for you.

I have an iPod Touch, an iPad and a BlackBerry.
The iPod Touch doesn't get much use anymore (since I got the iPad) but they are all complimentary.

My BlackBerry is just fine without Doodlejump

I'm not even sure I'd rate the BB multmedia as a "meh"... Too high.
