Default Making Calls via Internet & Data Cable

I am in an area where I have no TMO coverage. I want to be able to at least make phone calls using my minutes & data cable connected to the internet.

Can these be done for free? If so, how?

Buy a pocket router I never leave home without it. Jack it into the hotels ethernet and presto WIFI. With UMA and Tmo hotspot I talk free all over the US and Canada.
