Default "searching for satellites..." on my 8320

Sorry if this has been posted before but since that are so many curve models and carriers, i am getting confused on 8320's GPS capabilities. I paired the 8320 with a Holux M-1000 GPS puck; however, when I start the GPS in the Google or BB maps, it keeps saying "searching for satellites...". Is GPS not even supported by Tmobile?

Ok I am confused. You mention the 8320 and 8820. I can tell you that the first time you pair an 8320, you should be outside with the BB and puck away from your body without tall buildings around. An 8820 has built in GPS.

Is T-mo supporting GPS or not even a factor since you have a puck? I think that they do so you probably don't even need the puck..

Where are you using the puck? How long are you letting it search? Have you followed the manual for your puck to properly connect and use it?

there was really not a lot instruction that came with it. I paired the device. I picked Holux M-1000 from the list. Then in the BB maps I picked Holux M-1000 from the list of devices in options. Then pushed Start GPS Navigation.
I am in New York City. High buildings might be blocking the signal.

bluetooth gps is supported on the 8320. Most GPS pucks give visual indications of whether or not it's picking up satelites. Are there lights on the puck?

After you pair the puck go to bluetooth options and highlight the gps device and hit the menu key. Select device properties. Set Trusted to Yes and Encryption to disabled and try it again.

I had the same issue recently with a WM5 smartphone. I had an older version of GoogleMaps which did not play nicely with my BT puck. I got the newer version, and set the com port to 0 (zero) and it worked great. Before I did all that, all I ever got was "searching...) and then the failure screen.

Hope that helps.

I did set Trusted to Yes and Encryption to disabled and still does not work. I have an orange solid signal for satellite and blue blinking for bluetooth. BB Map is version 1.2.26 and google maps is 1.6.1.

As long as the blue light is blinking slowly (once every few seconds), you are connected via Bluetooth. As for the amber light, it also needs to be blinking and will indicate a GPS signal. Sounds like you do not have a GPS signal on your Bluetooth puck.

Speaking of Holux, I just sent my GPSlim236 to be replaced by their warranty...They make very cheap GPS pucks and they tend to be unreliable.
