Default BB7250 or 8700c?

Please Login to Remove!

I am interested in getting a BB with Verizon or the 7250 they have online for $99. Yet, I am told I cannot upgrade until 12/17 of this year which is 5 full months away.

Amazon.com has the 8700c with Cingular priced at $49.99...YES you read that correctly. Of course you cannot transfer your number but that does not bother me really. One click of an email can handle that.

Should I wait for my upgrade or say screw Verizon($175 cancellation fee) and go with the new BB for only $49.99?

Verizon for me with a voice/unlimited data would be $79.99. How about Cingular?

Thank you,

Trent

To be honest you should base your purchase on who has the best coverage in your are then choose your device. The 8700 is great and all but if the coverage doesn't live up to what VZN has in your area you could be dissapointed. You might also want to consider getting a VZN 7250 used see the B/S/T forum while your under contract at that point the 8703e for CDMA networks should be out and maybe you can test drive Cingular in your area at that time?

Both map coverages of DE is excellent. People who have both here are happy. T Mobile and Sprint stink.

I already played with the 7250 at the store here in Dover. They told me I would have to pay full price for a 7250 until December. Full price mind you is $449. I do not think so. I can cancel my contract...sign up again for $99 online for less than $300. I even asked the sales guy what do they do to try and prevent people like me from breaking the contract and moving to another service with a better phone and cheaper at that. He replied with a shrug, "NOTHING."

I was told verizon online has more leverage in upgrading than actual stores do so I might try them. I am going to Cingular to play with the 8700c to just get a feel and see if they honor or match online pricing such as Amazon.com

I have a question, will the contacts on a BB 7250 be lost if i do a wipe handheld on it? I can't seem to find a yes or no answer to this. I know on an 8700c it doesn't.

I will tell you that EVDO on the 7250 is awesome for browsing. My buddies "new" 8700c is like a snail in comparison.

I believe that I recently saw an aarticle that said that Verizon is now prorating their cancellation fee, depending on how much time you have left on the contract. You might want to inquire about it.

Please stop that! Your post is an un-necessary thread highjack of someone else's thread on a completely different topic.

Thank you Dusty. Yes, Verizon will prorate the termination fee but that plan will not start until this fall...errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
