Hi, wow, what a cool app, i was wondering if something like this existed as i'd used to have a similar app for my palm and i found it very handy... i just don't remember how the app was called for palm...

Anyway, i was wondering, as it has been tested in many phones, if its also compatible with curve 8520... and well i do not have yet a pay pal account but seems that i will be getting one, one of these days... it has an excellent price for what it does...

Many greetings

FileScout release 2.2
Screen capture capabilities & Playlist enhancements

What's new?
  • ScreenScout - Use FileScout to capture your BlackBerry Device display from anywhere.
This new FileScout version will come with a integrated fully configurable screenshot application. FileScoutLite user can also make use of this new feature (the Lite Version will add some overlay to the screenshot). Of course you need to grant FileScout the permission (in the BlackBerry device application permission configuration) to capture the screen of the device.
  • Creation of PlayLists more user friendly - show warning when no Playlist directory is configured - creating recursive Playlists can be canceled
  • Additional Key-ShortCut [SHIFT]+[L]: PlayList Recursive
  • The TextEditor allow you to use a own/different FontFamily (can be configured in the Options)
  • eMail Archive & Browse with FileScout MenuItems will now check if another instance of FileScout is already running in the background and if this is the case this background instance will be used.

What's fixed?
  • False warning 'Playlist Directory does not exist any longer' when actually no files have been selected is fixed.
  • OS6 seams to be not able to include Video files in a playlist - so on OS6 Videos will be excluded

The full changelog can be found at the emacberry.com FileScout Homepage (including details information about ScreenScout)

Hello emacf1,

Are you familiar with the popular Dropbox application? We already know the Dropbox official application does not support Upload/Download from SD card. (This has been a major complaint of BlackBerry users of Dropbox app)

Would you be willing to add Dropbox upload/download support to BBFileScout? The Dropbox API is publicly available:
Is it possible to obtain source code to BlackBerry Dropbox? « Dropbox Forums
I am considering writing an app (I am a BlackBerry developer), but I'd rather you as FileScout developer, do this instead...

It probably will be quick for you to add an "Upload File to Dropbox" and "Download File from Dropbox" -- probably a project that takes you only 1 day to do. Also, Dropbox currently has no plans to add this feature to their official application, at this time... Dropbox is not even listed in the BlackBerry App World, you could become the first app to have a hit for the search keyword "dropbox" - more profit for your app. This is the #1 most popular feature request for Dropbox for BlackBerry. You can do it!

Cheers,
Mark Rejhon

Yep, it is coming after all! There was a public discussion in Dropbox discussion Forums, and I have helped Matthias (a little) to add this feature. Beta testing now.

but have in mind that there is still some work to do before this can be released to the public - Dropbox staff was so kind to "pre release" my Application Key in order to allow selected people (like you Mark) to test the current implementation...

before going officially "live" there is and additional review phase required

FileScout release 2.5
New FileScout Caches & FileScout Dropbox Plugin

Finally FileScout is an official Dropbox Application! Follow the link for details...

What's new?
  • FileScout Caches will be initiated on device start (and not on each start of FileScout) - this should bring a massive performance boost for most of you!
  • FileScout will handle the SDCard insert or remove events
  • New key short cut [SHIFT]+[T]: Goto Top of the file list
  • New key short cut [SHIFT]+[B]: Goto Bottom of the file list
  • aaaaaand - FileScout Dropbox Plugin Integration

In order to keep the main FileScout Application as small as possible the FileScout Dropbox Plugin is a separate available Application by emacberry.com that allows you to interact with your Dropxbox. The Plugin have to be installed separately OTA. Therefore you will find in the FileScout options a new Section called Dropbox Options.

When the Plugin is not present you will find there a button which allows you to install the FileScout Dropbox Plugin OTA directly from FileScout just with a single click.

After the Plugin is installed you need to specify your Dropbox login details (email & password) and press the login button. After your login have been verified you can start to access your Dropbox from FileScout.

If you don't know the Dropbox Service or if you don't have a Dropbox account yet visit the Dropbox website for details. If you like you can create a new Dropbox account with a referral to the emacberry.com Dropbox account.

WARNING: The FileScout Dropbox Plugin has the potential to transfer extremely large volumes of data using your carrier's network. Please be aware that this could result in large overage charges over the course of a month if you do not have an unlimited data plan. Regardless of your data plan, please consider configuring FileScout to use WiFi (FileScout Options/General Options/Preferred Network set to either Auto or WiFi) whenever available as an alternate to using your carrier's network.

The full changelog can be found at the emacberry.com FileScout Homepage (including details information about ScreenScout)
