Today I downloaded and installed the dm 4.7 from BB's site. When I hooked up my Curve and went to Application Loader>Update Software, it found the 4.5 and installed it automatically. Works flawlessly too! Many others over at Crackberry have discovered this today as well. Oddly enough though the 4.5 is not found on BB's site for Alltel, or on Alltel's download site for the Curve.

It upgraded me to 4.5.0.89

How can that bite me? I read that thread, and I have no issues whatsoever, and so far no one over at crackberry has either. Folks over there had 4.7 dm for a while now, but never had the option to update their Alltel Curves to the 4.5 OS until this morning.
You don't have to download the OS from wherever you find it at on the web, just hook up your BB and it updates away on it's own with nothing more to download that dm 4.7
All I did was install the dm, never downloaded any OS, the DM does it for you.
Just curious how it can bite me after my phone updated to 4.5?

I've had DM 4.7 for months, as well. The issue is that the updates just recently became available. It can bite you if you go to download/install another carrier's OS and there is a hidden vendor.xml that keeps coming back every time you delete it, preventing you from being able to upgrade. There's nothing wrong with updating via this method. Just keep it in mind if you go to install another OS that you download from another carrier.

They may stop hosting the OS for download. Not quite sure. This prevents us from loading other carrier's OS's.
