Default SRP ID Disabled

Please Login to Remove!

I am running BES 3.6.3. My SRP ID has been disabled 4 times in the past 7 weeks due to the RIM threshold of 5 connection attempst in 1 minute being exceeded. My logs show my SRP connection being dropped and re-established in rapid succession:

[30155] (06/02 09:44:56):{0x1078} SRP connection dropped, Error=10054
[30156] (06/02 09:44:57):{0x1078} SRP connection established
[30155] (06/02 09:44:58):{0x1078} SRP connection dropped, Error=10054
[30156] (06/02 09:44:58):{0x1078} SRP connection established
[30155] (06/02 09:44:59):{0x1078} SRP connection dropped, Error=10054
[30156] (06/02 09:44:59):{0x1078} SRP connection established
[30155] (06/02 09:45:01):{0x1078} SRP connection dropped, Error=10054
[30156] (06/02 09:45:01):{0x1078} SRP connection established
[30155] (06/02 09:45:02):{0x1078} SRP connection dropped, Error=10054
[30156] (06/02 09:45:02):{0x1078} SRP connection established

After the threshold is exceeded RIM automatically disables the SRP ID and I have to place a TSupport call to re-connect. RIM has suggested that the network on my side may be at fault although I have not found any indications of network problems on the segments I administer.

Is this a common issue? Anyone else experienced this and have some insight to share?

This is not a common occurrence. I would check the perimeter firewall first and any AV software that's running locally. Have you checked the times during those weeks that these disruptions occurred? What else was happening on the server - check the event viewer. RIM does not arbitrarily disconnect BES servers.

error 10054 Usually indicates no internet connection, check you connection.
Do you have a time limited connection through port 3101?
It should be allowed a permanent connection.

You could also run bbsrptest for a better idea of what's up.

You wouldn't by chance have a second, possibly a test, BES up and running using the same SRP would you? I know conflicting SRP's will cause a shut down of your SRP, but it sounds like you might have something else going on.

Thanks for the input. It does sound like this is not a common isue for RIM clients. Both RIM and I have eliminated a duplicate SRP ID as the cause. Network is the likley candidate for sure. Unfortunately I don't control my firewall and have to rely on another dept to verify the config. I have asked that the firewall and our Internet gateway be checked. I have eliminated my LAN and NICs as a cause.
