Finishing up the install right now. From what I've read on Crackberry there may be some signal improvement so, we'll see.

I am going to give it a try for the BT improvements they are talking about at CB. We'll see.

I love this thing like it is with very few exceptions. A really good change I'll go back to official.

I have it installed. Went on without a hitch.

I haven't had a chance to really test anything seriously, but it did boot from a battery pull in 4 minutes, which is a little better than I had it before. There is also about 5MB more memory with everything else the same.

All of my 3rd party apps work, which is Weatherbug Elite, Poynt, Yelp, Google Search, Google Maps and ScoreMobile.

I will be most interested in putting BT through it's paces today.

According to BGR this may be the version of the official update in the next two weeks.

I'm halfway through the install now.

Been running this all day with no complaints at all. Talked on bluetooth today a lot and no one said a word.

On the handset, I used to get "you're all muffled" before and no one said a word about it today.

True test will be in my card with Ford Sync 2.0. Ford has an acknowledged noise issue that they have a kit for, but "you sound far far away" was also a complaint. We shall see.

I am reading around about all the other issues / complaints... I just simply don't have any outside these small ones.

IMHO, the Tour is simply the finest Blackberry I have ever owned!!

Update to my first post:
OS is snappier/more responsive (No freezes)
Inputting my password when locked, it unlocks MUCH quicker
Boots faster from battery pulls
Signal seems more consistent instead of bouncing around from full bars to two to none.

If I download this, can I still return the device to VZW for trackball issues? Or does this "void the warranty" and I'll have to reflash it to 4.7.1.40 before taking it in?

Hmmm. Good question. When I swapped mine out, they never asked. I told the support rep I was having the trackball issues everyone is talking about. She asked me to describe it, and once I did, she ordered me the replacement, no questions asked.

If you wanted to put it back, you could after you swap over to the new one. Easy way to wipe your personal data and no hurry!

I wouldn't be surprised if it is the official update. From my experience today, it is very solid and addresses the key issues people talk about.

I agree with the other observations - faster boot. Quicker response all around. Better after password entry. Better Bluetooth. Good signal (although in regards to signal, I had no complaints before the update)

This IS the official update that has been leaked. It's now available through Verizon.

Well didn't get home till 5:30am actually but still started the install when I got there. Fell asleep around step 11, but woke up to my tour with a brand new os. Seems great so far, def feels snappier and I got about 10mb of memory than I had before. I had a sketch theme installed that does not work fully with the new one but don't really care about that. Other than that all is good from what I can tell.

I am seeing a drop to 1X and 1xev in places in my house that used to get 2-3 bars of 1XEV. Not very happy about this.

So is it dropping, or not working, or an outage or are you going for your 5th Tour?

Wirelessly posted (Lets Go Canes!)

My trackball responds much better with this OS. Connectivity improvements are inconsequential. I had higher expectations.
