Default Buggy "Official" OS

Please Login to Remove!

After experiencing my second random reboot this morning (7+ since jumping from OS offical .607 to .713) I just need to vent. When will an official Verizon OS release for the Storm 2 be pushed without obvious flaws? between the aforementioned random reboots, missing keyboard in group BBM (.607) poor voice/sound quality during calls (.713).......... I could go on and on. It just seems to me whenever it comes to official RIM OS releases, Verizon is generally the last to get their boat in the water and frequently the release with the most reported bugs.

I have the latest and upgraded with no issues. My first guess is that one of your Apps is not playing nicely with the OS. I have found that some of the news Apps tend to cause my S2 to temporarily lock up while updating news.

Wirelessly posted

I would also guess an app is the culprit. Could be a tedious process of elimination, however.

I agree with your comment about VZW OS in that I have found some to be faultier than others. However, as a consolation, start dumping your 3rd party apps and slowly add back

Thanks for the info. I'm not looking forward to it but until a great OS is released it might be my only option.

If it turns out to be an App causing the issue, you can't really blame the OS. And an OS can not be expected to fix 3rd party apps.

I'd check the app switcher first to see what apps are running and start with those. Hold down the menu key to get to the app switcher

following some of the suggestions offered i deleted and reinstalled my apps one at a time. it turns out Quick Pull was likely causing my reboot issues. Still the sound/voice quality since installing .713 is absolutely terrible. I get a robotic or digital sound periodically while talking on the phone. It's random throughout the conversation, yet happens during most all calls. I called Verizon tech support and they advised this is a "known issue" with this most recent update. unless someone can offer a suggestion it looks like this is an annoyance I'm going to have live with. Very frustrating.

I would advice to go back to 517 which in my opinion was the more stable and safest OS so far.

No problems whatsoever with 3rd party apps and regarding Quickpull just make sure you don't have the auto reboot set for daily or weekly or whatever. I just do it manually.

Good luck

Was .517 ever an official release (just curious as I remember .320, .607 and 713). I did have it set for daily reboot at 3:00 am which worked out fine. My problem was the non-requested spontaneous reboots during the day.

I am new to Verizon and my Storm2 is new and I am running .713. I have had no issues for what it is worth. And like others have said, make sure that you dont have a program forcing a device reset. I ran into that on my Storm1 briefly - happens to the best of us.
