Default Moving BES Express 5 to a new server in a new domain

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I am in the process of moving a BES Express 5 server hosting a few dozen users from one location to another. It's a standard install with the database currently hosted by MSDE.

I am trying to get the users moved over without having to reactivate/wipe them, but all the advice I am reading is conflicting and unclear as to whether it applies to BES Express or just BES.

If I move the MSDE database for the existing BES to the new server (which is in an entirely new domain and Exchange org), then install BES Express on the new server telling it to use the existing DB when it comes to the configuration part, will that work as long as the SRP remains the same?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

same exchange org?

if yes move users in exchange and they will be fine after the move so long as permissions are correct.

if no, then wipe and type

Thanks for the reply - they're in a different Exchange org unfortunately :(

However I believe their entire mailboxes are being migrated over rather than just individual mail so would this mean the BB info in their system folders would remain, helping the BB migration?

I really don't want to have to wipe and reactivate if I can avoid it.

Cheers!

How does one have an SA account login to SQL from 2 domains? this is knot possible.

only way to remove encrytption keys is to wipe the device to activate on a new BES.

hidden folder in mailbox only has reconcile records and encryption key
