OS: 9780 6.0.0.2647/6.0.0.600 (All Languages)
Please Login to Remove!
BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.2647 (All Languages)
Package Version: 6.0.0.2647
Consisting of:
Applications: 6.0.0.600
Software Platform: 6.6.0.223
File name: 9780AllLang_PBr6.0.0_rel2647_PL6.6.0.223_A6.0.0.60 0.exe
File size: 197.00MB
Download here: BlackBerry Bold 9780 - Firmware-Updates & Support von Vodafone
Instructions for installing on the 9780:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

No real memory leaks in this OS...or any of the previous OS6 releases on the 9780. This release works well, but has a quirk when activated on a BES, where the quick contacts do not sync to the BES. No big deal...but it is a bug in this release.

Downloading and installing on one of the blackberries that I manager. Will report any issues the user has, if they come up.

Re: Latest OS: 9780 6.0.0.2647/6.0.0.600 (All Languages)
UPDATE: The stock RIM theme for this update seemed to have moved from 6 icons to 4 leaving a lot of space in between icons (almost like it is made for a touch screen device).

Re: Latest OS: 9780 6.0.0.2647/6.0.0.600 (All Languages)
There is another problem that has popped up with regards to this release:
Impact: Critical
Severity: Severe
Functionality Affected: Web Browsing
Status: Resolved
Upon attempting to access websites, the browser fails to connect with the message "Unable to find server". A battery pull and a resend of the service books failed to resolve the issue. I will continue to investigate and attempt to find a resolution and report. If I can't, I will need to downgrade from this version.
Resolution: Manually delete the browsing service books and resend them. To do this, goto Options and search "Service Book" and delete "PROVISIONING", "Blackberry Internet Browsing Service", "Blackberry Internet Browsing Service 2". Then from Options, search "Host Routing Table", bring up the menu and click "Register Now".
This will resend your service books.
For additional help on resend service books, please see the FAQ: http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.p...rvice_books%3F

Re: Latest OS: 9780 6.0.0.2647/6.0.0.600 (All Languages)
Phil - reading both of your posts, I have to say I have not seen these issues on mine. You should consider a Javawipe and a clean install - restoring only what you really need. I've seen many upgrades go bad and this usually fixes most issues. I have already done this on this release, but some minor annoyances still exist, like the dreaded hourglass from time to time. I'm about to move back to .576 tonight. Good luck!

Re: Latest OS: 9780 6.0.0.2647/6.0.0.600 (All Languages)
I've found this to be the best build yet. For me the browser is slightly faster and I don't have memory leakes in the browser. When I have multiple tabs open for long periods of time (eg overnight), typically in the morning I would be prompted to close up all open tabs. Problem is resolved

I don't like this at all, my phone is freezing about 3 times a day for about 20 seconds, no keys or trackpad function while its frozen, no timer on the screen, just frozen, this never happened before I loaded this OS, I am going back to 461 tomorrow which was working perfect for months

Re: Latest OS: 9780 6.0.0.2647/6.0.0.600 (All Languages)
Bit late to the party but I upgraded to 6.0.0.600 and my battery life took a nose dive so after googling around I came upon this forum and read various solutions. I was about to step back a version when I followed one suggestion to check how much of the CPU each application I had running was taking. Bearing in mind that I had not added any new apps since upgrading the OS but because I had to reinstall them from scratch I downloaded the latest versions. I found that one application, namely Priority Pass (guide to airport lounges) was taking 32% CPU constantly... I sat looking in disbelief for quite a while! I deleted the app and I am now back to my previous battery consumption levels i.e. about 10% overnight. Phew!
