Default How to Disable MDS?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,

We have 1 BES running 4.1. Service Pack 5 and I would like to disable the MDS service. What is the best way of doing this? I try to look for some "how to" but found mix instructions.

Our goal is to stop the tunneling feature that the MDS create for application to be pushed to device, but more importantly, to stop user from being able to access our intranet from the device.

Here is what I found online, any suggestion on what would work best for what we are trying to do?

1. Turn off MDS service in Windows Services
2. Redirect MDS proxy to an Internal Proxy that will prompt user for login
3. Uninstall it completely by running the BES cd on the server, and unchecking MDS upon repair.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Your response is much appreciated!

Disable MDS Connection service on a per user basis or put users into a group and disable it for them.

You could also just stop the service too I guess.

Default Pull Rule

The answer lies within BES Pull Rule. Using the Pull Rule you can restricts the sites that the device be view. Although this feature works, it works too well . Even when we apply the rules to the one user, it apply to all the user and it block all website.

I have used the instructions in this article:
