Default 8700c & Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings!

Have a brand new 8700c -- Purchased the Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter (10 Meter) from CompUSA earlier today -- Part #F8T003v.

In the BB Device Manager, I can connect and add the BB8700c just fine. I can enter the passphrase, register, and everything seems peachy.

However, when I start up the Desktop Manager, it sits there in the "Disconnected" status, but my 8700c will go between "Connecting to Desktop..." and the main screen. It keeps flashing/switching between the two.

I have made sure Disabled Desktop Connectivity and Disable Wireless Bypass are set to false in the IT Policy (we are using BES 4.0.3). From everything that I can tell, the Belkin adapter is on the approved Microsoft list. I also have the 8700 about 5 inches away from the BT adapter.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Just incase anyone in the future comes across this thread -- I do now have this working!

I don't exactly know what I did, but I do know at one point today (after posting the original message), I recycled the power (took battery out). After I did that, everything seemed to work fine.

So, the Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter does successfully work with the 8700c. I keep it (the 8700c) on my belt clip, and as I walk up to my computer, a few seconds later it connects with my Desktop Manager and syncs, and message redirection stops for the time being (until a few minutes after I walk far enough away).

Hope this helps anyone in the future!

Thanks for posting this, it gives me some confidence... I just got the Belkin USB BT adapter, but I'm going to try and get it to work on my Laptop that has Win2K installed.

My phone is the 8700c... I'm hoping to give this a shot within the next few days. The last BT adapter I tried was a cheapo I bought on eBay, I could not get it to work and the un-install left a whole bunch of garbage in my registry I actually ended up re-installing windows! What a pain...

Hey treat1013-
I tried it, but I ran into problems because I'm running Win2K... at the following page it says you MUST be running WinXP SP2:
http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgec...7250&vernum=11

It says the WIDCOMM drivers that come with the Belkin adapter are not supported, and you have to have the WinXP BT drivers installed. I don't know if there's a workaround for Win2k

So, am I correct to assume that you are running WinXP SP2, and that you installed the native Windows BT support?

My phone "sees" my laptop over BT, and vice-versa, the problem is that "Enable Bluetooth Support" is greyed out in the BB Device Manager

Thanks treat1013

I had exactly the same issue, blackberry 8700g was paired via bluetooth and everything looked ok however my 8700g would go between "Connecting to Desktop..." and the main screen. It kept flashing/switching between the two.

I read your response that you powered down the device and removed the battery. I then turned it back on and bingo its now all working and synching with the desktop manager as it should.

Thanks for the tip.
