For using OMA, we have SSL tunneling on ISA 2004.
Every phone need to have a cert imported to it or you get NO EMAIL.

Never played with an IPhone 2.0, it was released today.

UMA is the bing, I know...

but wtf is OMA?

My mother had a cousin Oma. Other siblings were Cloma and Zoma, and that is not a lie. South Alabama families were soooo poor that couldn't afford real names.

It does not suck that bad. 1/3 of my mobile users have it and only the Treo users have issues. Black Jack users like it just as much as BB, even had 3 people move from BB to BJ with no complaints. YMMV

LOL, well we only have 18 users on it and it works well for them.
Have less issues with the OMA than BES and BES licensing does cost a bit more.
We dont lock down everything like some companies.

iPhone is a toy, very little corporate use except for flash and dash, has no real "central management" component and will die a very painful death on a corporate level unless they step up their game.

RIM has the corporate market in the bag, the better they make the BES the more people will go to it, and with the Storm/Thunder coming out, well good luck with the iPhone.

OMA blows.

Uh, MDA's aren't that bad. They also use push technology and functionality for them is built into exchange 2007 servers.

No RIM middleman, e-mail delivery is up there with RIM...I just hate their phones/OS. They've come a long way.

As long as the device supports push ... and then you get to deal with the security aspect ... as long as you have SCMDM.

They've come a long way ... and still have a long way to go.

Sorry but Iphone is not supported in SCMDM, it would be nice and likely planned but likely not till sometimes in 2009. For now you have to live with the basic Exchange global policies. I don't have 2007 so I can't verify all of them will populate down to Iphone.

On 2003 the password policy doesn't work exactly like it does with Windows Mobile. After the invalid password attempts it's supposed to ERASE itself. Iphone goes througha series of "locks" and you just connect to Itunes to unlock it. Not the best solution but at least Remote Kill via Exchange Mobile Admin is working.

Regardless the Iphone is here, it meets basic security requirements and I forecasted 500-1000 of them by mid 2009 in our enterprise (mostly agents who buy their own stuff). Our "standard" will remain Blackberry and users (corporate) will need business justification why they need an iphone because frankly we're beyond email only functionality for mobility.

Apple should look to buy one of the BES like products from a smaller company as they desperately need central management / reporting. Likely they could care less what corporate needs and we need to 'deal' with it. Last weekends fiasco shows they have no clue how to scale load / support. I'd be interested in how the sales look 3 / 6 months from now.

Its not fully supported but the device is recognized and manageable. Sorry, I should have clarified the partial functionality further.

HD ... can you define what "management" is available? We don't have SC2007 yet but anything that would provide Iphone management might carry some weight as the user count expands.
