Google MAPS is the SAME THING as Google LOCAL. Some hardcore GOOGLE fans complained when GOOGLE MAPS was changed to GOOGLE LOCAL. So GOOGLE RENAMED it to the orignal name GOOGLE MAPS. Confused???

I did the upgrade anyway, as Maps is version 1.2.0 versus Local which is version 1.1.0; perhaps some fixes have been introduced? Although I can't say I ever had a problem with "local"--it's an extremely powerful application which I use often.
I have noticed a cool new feature. Do a search for a business and when you select the number for more info there is a new tab in the info screen called details. Press the K button to access the detail tab and you get links to information and reviews, pretty neat. The program seems to stall less than 1.1.0

Just be careful..some "unlimited" plans aren't actually unlimited. Go back and read the fine print for a "cap".

I have unlimited thru NEXTEL. Been using LOCAL/MAPS since Feb when it was released. No fine print needed. It is included and NO EXTRA CHARGES.

I mean unlimited sometimes means 50MB if you look closely. Ex: Rogers "unlimited" has a 25 MB cap.

Yes. I unistalled Local and re-installed MAPS via phone by visiting www.google.com/gmm.

I figured out the GPS, type in the address where you are and the map goes right to it. Finds me everytime. No offense, kind of Polish but it works well...

For the BES, 4.1 users, You may need to talk to your BES Admins to get Google maps to work.

I am not on a BES and using 4.0.2.37, and the OTA download worked fine and the program runs great on a BB 7520 with 4.0.2.37 and no BES

This is NOT real time automatic GPS navigation, it is however, the best possible NON GPS location based navigation tool available....Might cause some accidents, but hey, they're fun right?

Hey Guys,

I have been using this app for some time now so let me help set the record straight.

1) This is NOT GPS software - not at all
2) This app does not know where you are
3) It does not give you turn by turn directions "automatically"

Think for this app as a MapQuest - but instead of giving your TEXT "Turn by Turn" instructions (lets say for directions) - it gives you an "arrow" that points to a picture on your BB - and when you physically arrive at that point - you MANUALLY click on the BB to see the next direction or turn you are supposed to make.

I hope this helps!
