Default Blackberry Media Sync a waste of time?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all -

I was just on the RIM website and was reading up on Blackberry Media Sync...it seems like a waste of time to me. It sounds like you cannot copy anything that you have purchased from the iTunes store (any file with DRM...) to the device. Is that the case? Are the file formats that are supported reasonable enough for most users?

Who has used it? What are your thoughts?

Blackberry Media Sync does not sync DRM ACC iTunes files for me at all. In my opinion, it is a waste of time and I will never buy iTunes music again.

I don't use iTunes, and it works fine for me. I think based on the allowable formats, it's going to become a matter of personal preference as to whether it's useful or not.

I haven't bought anything from iTunes, I just don't like Windows Media Player 11, iTunes is a nice alternative. As far as the Media sync, I had iTunes manage all my songs, and I just copied the the contents of the iTunes folder (Which has all my music) to my SD Card.

I use Media Sync because I stiiiilll use iTunes, but I don't actually buy iTunes music. I like being able to sync my playlists to my BB from iTunes via Media Sync. I guess part of the reason I still use iTunes is my three or four year old AirPort Express plays right to my stereo and AirFoil has never worked for me under Vista. Sure, it's just as easy to drag and drop through Explorer, but when I'm already using iTunes....it just seems easier to sync my favorite playlists.

Now, if foobar2000 or SongBird would support what I need, I use one of those full time without hesitation.

actually iTunes is working on renewing all of their songs and getting rid of the DRM. right now, there's about 2 million songs DRM-free, and hopefully soon, all of them will be.

Reformat your iTunes music from acc to mp3 and you shouldn't have a problem playing them but it is much better if you store everything to a MSD card. I use iTunes to manage my MP3 files but do not buy anything.

Yeah, everything is supposed to be DRM free by the end of March. But, I read that you have to pay the 30 cents per song to "upgrade".
