Blackberry Storm 2 Questions..
Please Login to Remove!
I got a question for those who may know.
1) Is the Storm 2's touch screen going to be the same as the Storm 1? Where I have to click into the screen as I touch?

Actually, yes, the screen will still click (this is called SurePress). But from the videos I've seen, it has been improved significantly.

The greatness of Youtube not withstanding, until I can touch it, I will withhold judgement about how wonderful it is....

Here's a Storm 2 question: We know it has WiFi... but will it support UMA (using the WiFi router to make and receive phone calls?)
I have a buddy who has the Storm, but the Verizon reception in his house is CRAP, so UMA would help him out immensely.

Given that in the US only T-Mobile supports UMA, on T-Mobile branded devices, I would say the likelihood of Verizon supporting UMA would be close to zero. Anything that cuts into their margins is unlikely.

So, basically, my friend's only option is to shell out $250 for the "Verizon Network Extender" device, because Verizon can't be bothered to provide a good signal in his neighborhood. LAME!
It would sure be nice if Verizon Wireless would pull their collective head out of their collective arse, and join other carriers (and their customers) here in the 21st Century! But as we all know, that isn't very likely to happen.

That won't happen in his case. Too many of his family members use Verizon Wireless, so he and his wife both enjoy the unlimited "In Network" calling and text messaging.

I had this same problem when my wife and I received our BB storms. We arrived home to find out there was only 1 bar and in the house we had about 25 dropped calls in 1 week. I contacted the verizon store where I purchased the phones, and the manager sent someone out to do a survey. The results of the survey said the signal in my area was "MARGINAL". Since we had the option to return the products within 30 days, I contacted the manager and verizon Customer service and told them they will have to do something. They offered the network extender, but I refused to pay an additional $250 for the device. If it was a problem within my home, I would have no problem purchasing the device. Unfortunately, it was within 2 miles of my home (Yes, I had to drive 2 miles away to get a good signal). Verizon first offered $50 off the device. I said no and I would return the 2 blackberry's and cancel my service. They called back and offered $100 off the device. Still, I refused, since this is NOT something I have control over. Then they offered $150, plus a credit of $100 the next two months ($50 first month, $50 next month). Sounds good. I agreed. I purchased the network extender and I we both have all bars on the BB. Oddly, when others come in the house with their cell phones, they too get great reception, even if their not on verizon. So, I basically got the network extender for free.
