Hi. I work in wireless sales for Verizon. What was posted earlier about opinions on this thread being biased towards one's own needs and experiences is true, most definitely.

From my experience, which is a lot, both the DROID Pro and Bold 9650 are excellent devices, which merely cater to different demographics. I would also tend to agree about not going DROID Pro, even if you choose Android. The "fail" phones have always been phones that try to be something that they are not. Case in point, the Storm 9530 trying to be an iPhone. The DROID Pro is the same, an Android trying to be a BlackBerry.

If your phone is a communication device first and foremost, get the Bold 9650. If it's an entertainment device, get a DROID 2 Global.

Droid X for a large screen/no keyboard Android phone.

Droid 2 Global for a fairly large screen Android phone with keyboard.

BlackBerry 9650 for professional-grade messaging.

I always thought the Droid Pro compromised too much on design to imitate a BlackBerry. Android devices have an entirely different set of strengths. I can't see having a small screen Android phone since web browsing and multimedia are such strengths. Plus the Droid Pro's seemed to have some build quality issues, like the earpiece volume and voice quality.
