Default OS: 9000 4.6.0.326/4.6.0.185 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

New OS for the 9000 from TIM Italy.
This OS will load to ANY carrier's 9000 model by following the instructions below.
(Multilanguage version)

Details
Name: BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.326 (Multilanguage)
File Name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel326_PL4.0.0.169_A4.6.0.185_TIM_I taly.exe
Download Size: 93.466 Mb
Language: English
Published Date: 11/11/2008

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...190CAAD5802983

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.6 installed. Older versions will load the OS but may not be full compatible with all the memory of the Bold. You can get DM 4.6 here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

To find the previous OS version for the 9000 Bold, click here:

If I'm reading this correctly, we would consider this Bold 9000 4.6.0.326/4.6.0.185? or .185 for short? If so, this seems to be a significant step forward from .167?

RIM is constantly working on new OS versions, and they spit them out (usually) pretty quickly. Historically there is no difference between a "beta" and a carrier release, except that the carrier has certified the official version for mass use. I am running the .190 software and haven't had any ill effects except for slow initial signal acquisition, but that my just be because I'm in a dungeon near the White House in Washington DC and it takes a miracle to get any signal here. So many RF shielded buildings, such a little antenna, you get the picture.

Anyway, if you're feeling frisky, go for the .190 version. Just keep in mind that if you need customer support, you have to go back to whatever version has been officially released by YOUR carrier. In my case for ATT, I have to go all the way back to .167. Ouch.

Nah it's not dumb at all. The one big thing I noticed is that Windows Live Search works in .185 but doesn't in .190. The memory increase appears to be the same for both versions though.

Default so?

so can anyone share more details about this new official OS release? How's battery life, memory? Does it seem better than the .190 Beta which has some problems like thumbnails, Live Search, etc? Is it worth the upgrade? I currently have the standard ATT Bold .167

When you follow the link and choose the 9000 the next page presents 2 download buttons. Click on the first one, that will download .185.

Ok, Live search works fine, picture thumbnails on device memory still don't seem to be working, and my memory is leaking.

On the other hand, the BB Browser seems to be faster, and the phone holds on to a signal better.

4.6.0.326 is the package version, but what we call ".185" are the applications within that package. That is the one you're looking for.
