Options > Autotext. Set your desired shortcut there. It does not "grab" it automatically.

For instance, you might program "zx" to become your email address or your signature you constantly place in an email.

I don' think they are talking about Autotext even though that is what they stated. I think they are talking about the custom word list and the fact that it's not learning. Perhaps, try checking Menu>options>Language>Input Options> (Make sure Auto Work learning is enable). At least I think that it was does it on my 8100.

Let us know!

I think the ability to "learn" words is a Suretype feature and doubt that this is available on qwerty devices. . .

....of course I can always stand to be corrected....

Ok, so I learned more about the curve today! Don't read twice! It will kill your post count! Besides we can always pick up the pieces later!

Sorry and you should update your model in your profile to a curve. It will help others help you more quickly!

It's there for shorthand features (i.e. typing "myver" in a new e-mail will list the model number and os version of your BB). It's also there to auto fix some common typos.

Just like JS stated, you can program it to say longer sentences and such by typing any combination of letters. Which reminds me, I should do that for my emails

SureType is for the condensed KB models, like the 7100 and 81xx... SureType has no purpose on the full-keyboard models.

The whole point of qwerty is not having to use Suretype, or T9, or anything like that.

The point of auto-text is being able to create abbreviations for commonly used words, phrases, or anything else. For example, if you find yourself writing "this sucks!" a lot, you could create a 'ts' entry in auto-text, so that every time you type 'ts' it expands to "this sucks!". It means that you can set 'ne1' to expand to "anyone", unless of course you're trying for that teen appeal that comes with using 'ne1'... The possibilities are endless.

Yes .....after playing with the custom list last night figured it out.......jm and hit enter in pops my email address........I like to send important text to my email at home cpu and my email addy is kind of long typing it over and over was a pain.

My full keyboard on my computer has auto fill.......lol.

I guess i was just hoping that if the bb curve see a common word use over and over that it would pop up and you just hit enter....like it did on the pearl.
