Default Guidance requested.

Can anyone provide any guidance as to recommended .sql size setup and .sql failover for my upcoming 4.0 migration.

I'm currently nearing 800 users with 8 BES Servers performing windows clustering and Domino clustering.

Most of my users are on 1 of the servers, support people are another and I basically have the rest sitting there for fail-over redundancy.

Upon moving to 4.0, I will decom one of the clusters and install 4 and then migrate myself to that server once installed.

My dba is asking specific questions on .sql sizing (how big should he plan for?, redundancy, etc...)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would say not very big for the SQL server... I would bet for 800 users your DB size will be less than 20 megs. I would be more concerned about the speed of the SQL server, as connections to a bunch of servers will put a bit of a load on it.

The initial BESMgmt database size is about 100MB. Then I would plan for about an extra meg per user approximatly. This won't be a meg initially but will increase over time.

for 4.0, the dependency on the database increases substantially. i think a 2GB slice would give you a good bit of growing room with 800 users.
