I figured out to use your Blackberry 7520 as a modem.
Follow these steps.

1. Download the Nextel Dashboard 1.0 software from Nextel's website.
(Link for it to follow when I get home.)
2. Load it on to your computer.
3. Take your Blackberry SIM card out of your Blackberry.
4. Put it into a falcon series Nextel phone.
(I am using an I736 right now.)
5. Plug your USB cable into your computer. Let it reconize your USB cable.
6. Plug your phone into the USB cable.
7. A window pop up asking you if you are using Serial or USB, pick USB.
8. A screen will pop up. It will say Default Modem Connection.
9. Click on Motorola iDen USB Modem.
10. Click OK.
12. Double click the Dashboard 1.0 program to open it.
13. Click Connect.
14. You will see your Windows Internet Explorer open.
15. Nextel.com's website is the default. Guess what, it wont load for me.
16. Go to Blackberryforums.com and enjoy.
17. The speeds we have been getting is 19.2 kilobyte per second.

Now if I could just get my HTML Browser to start working.

Is the i90c a falcon series phone?

Jason_AB, no an i90 is a condor series phone. While it may work, you can pick up an i205 for next to nothing and that will get you what you need... Any of the phones that are 3 digits (i730, i830, i860, etc) are considered a falcon series phone.

You know. An I 90c may just work. If you know enough about SIM cards. The SIM card from the Blackberry looks like the one from the condor phones. So give it a whirl. Let us know. Otherwise, I will have my dad bring over his I95cl LE and try it or I will get one from a friend. But to be honest with you. I think it would work.

ratts, just sold the i730 when I got this BB. Oh well I will try the i90 and report back. I know for a fact that the sim cards for the i58sr & i90's are the same, I have several buddies that have i730's, we will do some changing this week end, could I run into any issues changing sim cards around?

I just got my BB the way I want it, BB Today is the best, @ 1st I didn't think i could get cutom stock symbls on it, then I found I could, now I see that I can not use the phone slot, put two Stock slots in and get more of my investments tracked. I use one stock slot for the DOW S&P etc.. the other for my stocks.

I have both of these refreshing every 120 secs. Do you thnk the battery will last all day, will see...I am not going to put it on the stand today while at my desk, so I will report back how bad the battery get drained, I am running 5 web client accounts, & one redirector account. Not to too many cell calls maybe 5 minutes per hour. I pulled it off the charger @ 6am this morning...keep your fingers crossed for me

I run weather at 60 min update I run BBlight to turn on with user activity. I have 3 email accounts with BWC I use nextel DC consitantly all day phone is minimal. I use PIN allday. I take the BB off the charger at 630am and return at 9pm I usually am down one mabye two bars.

So you're not using the 7520 as the modem, but rather the falcon phone w/ the Blackberry Data Plan provisioned to your sim (from the Blackberry)?

Man, your catching on. Yes you are using your SIM card from the Blackberry in a falcon phone (condor series, not yet confirmed) and running the Dashboard 1.0 program to get on the net....

Not fast internet, but doable internet.

But I heard May 1st, is going to bring some new data plans out. So this speed may go up. We can all hope.

Congratulations on the breakthrough on getting a 7520 on working as a modem for laptop! Not quite... but almost!

Hopefully you can eventually make the modem work directly on the 7520 itself (I wonder if the OS 4.0.0.319 makes this easier).

I have downloaded the 4.0.0.319 on my 7520 and have been trying. I have another friend who has tried that more than I have.

I have also been able to use an I60 (condor phone) and have almost got online.

The only reason, I have not been able to is because the computer I am using it on, only has Windows 98.

Its funny how that used to be soooo new. Now its acient.

Anyway, I will try it tonight on my computer at home.

And it will work.

The Answer is YES. You can use a Condor Series phone with you Blackberry SIM card to get on the internet using your laptop or desktop computer. I am using my desktop computer right now with the i60 doing the connection.

Be carefull everyone. Nextel does have a way of telling what phone you are using regardless of the sim that is in it. I wouldn't go hog wild with it until you get your bill, to make sure you get no surprises! I'm confident that this workaround will be fine with no surprises.

I pay over a $100.00 a month for my phone service.
I will use it all the ways I legally can to get the most
amount of use out of it.

Nextel obviously makes most of their money off their service.

Because, I have heard they have to just about give phones away
to get people to sign up.

Nextel and their phone service has helped me learn alot and I hope
to be able to continue to share my knowledge and and gain
knowledge to use their products to best suit my needs and make
me a happy customer.
