I'm pretty sure that is a OS 4.2 change, and you're stuck with the new format. :(

I personally prefer it (my Yahoo! e-mail address is too long, and it wouldn't change the icon under 4.1, so there was no way to tell if new messages were in the account or not since the old theme would display the address, then the message count) -- The bottom row on the screen IS long enough though ;)

Thanks Kormac for your work on this. I deleted all but the Verizon (hate it), Zen, Icon, and Today themes. Since I will never use them its best to keep memory available.

Could you possibly provide us with your edited alx file? I too want to keep the "stock" themes... with only the addition of the today theme. Sorry for the bother about this, but I'm not sure I am savy enough to edit this file myself.

Thanks!

Sorry for the double post here... but would this require an edited cod file as well?

I'm not asking for the files from post #20. I already have those and they are already installed. I'm asking for the files from post #22, as I want to save whatever memory I can. I thought I quoted the right post?

Not a problem Dawg.

I'm really looking to only keep the 3 Dimension themes (icon, zen & today) and the stock Verizon theme (even though I agree it is awful). I guess I just don't trust myself to edit the alx and cod files. I'm smart enough to get myself into trouble if you know what I mean.

to be honest with you I think the OEM themes dont take up much memory. I have 13 themes installed and multiple applications and havent noticed any problems.

Well... I grew some and made an effort to edit my own alx file... and it worked beautifully. Not nearly as painful as I was making myself believe. I simply worked backwards with the following link, which made it quite simple.

How to Add Vendor Locked Themes - BlackBerryFAQ

Thanks again!

The filename is misspelled in the post. Check it against the actual name of the file . . .

I've tried to download the alx and cod in post #20 yesterday and today but only get a blank screen. Are these attachments working for anyone else? Anyone have a mirror?

Well I bit my tongue and did it via Java loader, it worked with some odd problems initially.

After installing the today theme with java loader, the device restarted and i was presented with my bPhone theme (Zen). I scrolled down to the 5th icon (applications) and selected it. A small red box with an [!] popped up. I clicked the wheel and it went away. I scrolled up and down only to find the display was not showing me scrolling. I scrolled down a notch and clicked, and each time i did this a different application would start, so i knew i was scrolling through applcations even though i could not see them. I found my way eventually to the "options" application so i could change the theme. I just changed it to the standard BB Dimension Icon theme to be safe, and received an error code, then the device was forced to restart. After restarting, everything now seems to work properly, I was even able to activate and use the Dimension Today theme and the bphone Today theme (which is the reason i installed this).

So all is well i think. Anyone have any ideas why these weird problems would of happened and is it a cause for concern?
