Default Adding user to BES, deleting contacts

Please Login to Remove!

I have a user that I wanted to add to a BES (it is actually BPS). They have existing contacts on their BB (which is an 8703e) and I was wondering if I add them to the BES, will it delete the current contacts on their BB when it syncs with the server, or will the contacts merge (the existing contacts merge with those already existing on Exchange server). Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forums.

The contacts should merge.

I have never seen a BB do this when activating but i'm having an issue where the contacts are NOT merging.

New guy started and had a personal BB Bold. I pulled his contacts using DM and saved them. When his verizon tour arrived, i loaded the contacts before activating in on our BES 5.0. All it will do is create two Desktop Contact lists.... I have wiped, re-activated, wiped re-activated, etc.

should i activate, turn off wireless synch on contacts, copy over old contacts, turn wireless activation back on? He wants his old contacts to appear in his outlook. He 400 contacts so doing this manually isn't something i want to tell him to do.

I recently had the same with a user - you should be good

activate - turn off wireless sync for contacts - remove the contacts from the blackberry that came over via Enterprise activation - then restore the backup and turned wireless sync back on - all contacts then in Outlook and the blackberry
