The 7100 does not support SMS messaging. You need to add the Blackberry data plan and the MMS messaging plan.

I found a list that will allow you to send an email to another phone using an email-like address. I added another email address with the phone number/address combo below to each of my contacts.
I can't remember where I got this. It was found on the web somewhere, and I was smart enough to copy it.

I also use a 7100i, and needed to overcome the lack of SMS. This works in a pinch. I've only used a few of these, so I'm not sure if they all still work.

Yep, that would be correct: email is the one where you can set up your accounts with yahoo, etc.

Once you get your Data Plan, you will have a browser, then you can download ringtones from various websites at that time. Until you get a Data Plan, nothing much there for you to worry about.

Not true of the 7100t. This 7100 does support SMS. It does not support MMS (picture msgs). You need to add text messaging to your plan and/or resend the service books.

Is the 7100i crippled or something?
