Default BlackBerry Storm - GSM Only?

Please Login to Remove!

Can the BlackBerry storm be used on a GSM only network?

Reason I ask - I have a customer who wants a touch screen phone (BlackBerry Preferable).

I know the Storm has a GSM slot but can I buy an unlocked phone and throw it on a non supported carrier? Would it work - Data and Voice?

Im using my storm on ATT and I have everything working. Just need to get it unlocked.

Corporate Email
Browsers
MMS
all 3rd party apps work.

It should work with all GSM carriers.

It is better to purchase an unlocked Storm 9500 rather than a 9530.

Besides CDMA and GSM - what is the difference between 9530 & 9500?

9500 GSM only
9530 GSM / CDMA

The 9500 is much more stable for GSM only use.

Default Help!!!!

Ok, I just purchased a 9530 from a guy who had it unlocked and he was using it with T-Mobile service. I am with Cincinnati Bell, and when I place my SIM card it tells me it is an invalid SIM... What do I do? I currently have a Pearl through CBW that works fine, so it isn't the SIM card. What can I do to make the 9530 like my SIM card? lol

yes it can be. just becareful the GSM connection on the 9530 is not 100% if she or he is going to use it with a blackberry data plan. the GSM/EDGE connection will come and go. what i mean by that is it will go from EDGE -edge the lower case edge = will not let you get your emails there is no data connection. if she or he is going to use it on att network the firmware that best holds a perfect connection was the stock firmware it came with .78 the GSM holds and does not drop. she or he will be happy then .

you also have a 2nd option by getting the 9500 which is the GSM only version thid model is perfect or even better then the 9530 due to the fact that you can update the OS and your connection will not be affected.

Might want to check this link as it probably has a tip or two.

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-t-mobile.html

One issue I think would be getting the correct service books to the device. I don't know if anyone using CincyBell has posted their experiences or not. A search night help.
