BES data has stopped working reliably here for me in the UK as of around 7pm Tue 11th October. Emails in both directions over BES are either very delayed (deliver over an hour later) or they don't deliver at all. BB handhelds always think the emails failed to send (red X) even if they did deliver but were delayed. Changes made in the rest of the PIM - Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Notes seem to fail (no successful changes noticed in testing yet).

BB handhelds are on Orange UK and have Uppercase signal strength, there are no MS Exchange issues - IEMSTest.exe on a BB User's mailbox is fully successful, the Internet connection is working, Test Network Connection to gb.srp.blackberry.com on port 3101 is Successful, Test SQL Server Connection is Successful, and yes I've taken the battery out and put it back in!

BIS data is working fine on BB handhelds however and has been for the duration of the EMEA outage.

I hope RIM have this fixed by the morning or I'm in for a bad day!

...and now BBM is gone in Canada. BIS E-mail down...BES working. RIM's system just isn't reliable and is causing nothing but trouble more and more these days. Network outages appearing way too often for my liking, and many others as well I'm sure.

A core switch failure has caused the issues and the backup switch didn't work....

From the official Facebook page of Blackberry:

https://www.facebook.com/BlackBerry?sk=wall

Quote:
The messaging and browsing delays being experienced by BlackBerry users in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, Brazil, Chile and Argentina were caused by a core switch failure within RIM’s infrastructure. Although the system is designed to failover to a back-up switch, the failover did not function as previously tested. As a result, a large backlog of data was generated, and we are now working to clear that backlog and restore normal service as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience, and we will continue to keep you informed.

Same as here - T-Mobile, BES users.

All 100 users slow delivery yesterday some not at all. I got no email all last night, rebooted my phone this morning and now it updated once but nothing since.....

I hope they get that switch sorted soon!

Still no BIS in SA.

Also experiencing problems with my BES users, no email delivery, and massive amounts of pending data packets on the server.

Read this morning about the core switch failing and that the fail over didn work either, you would think they would test these type of things on a regular basis to ensure that failing over works correctly.

Hope it all gets resolved soon.

BES services have been down in Ireland for a few days. Prior to that, we were having email sending/recieving delays on devices and i just wonder if this 'outage' has been going on a little longer that we think.

Don't see how it would be because of the outage as the internet connection provided through wifi wouldn't be provided by RIM in any way, pull the battery and try connecting through wifi again.

I just tested wifi and it works perfectly, note that BIS is also down in SA, so no such services for me either.

My BIS wasnt working yesterday and even on wifi I couldnt connect to internet, I had done over 100 battery pulls :O (sort of) still nothing. Today my connections are ok on Wifi but no email access, at least very intermittent! I do get some but hardly any email goes. :(

From BES insider:

"BIS and BES message queues are completed by 90% - BISB, BBM and Push APi still disabled."
