Hi There,

I had a Blackberry Curve but destroyed the phone(don't ask) so I purchased a Storm(9530) from ebay to replace it. I am on the Virgin Canada network and am wondering if this is going to work? I am currently getting it unlocked and hoping that everythign magically works once that is done but am afraid it won't.

Can anyone provide any insight?

oh the Storm is a Bell Canada unit...

Thanks,
Matt

Unfortunately the storm is not an HSPA device so as far as I know you would NOT be able to use it.

The 9530 supports both CDMA and GSM (EDGE only). It should pick up and work fine on Virgin Canada. You will need to get a BlackBerry Data Plan.

Since Virgin doesn't offer the 9530, it won't support the Service Books. There are many, many threads about how to get devices working on networks that don't support them - it is a bit of a pain. Voice and SMS text will work fine, but getting BB specific functions on it will take some work.

HSPA has nothing to do with this. The 9530 just won't get 3G.
