The Storm supposedly has a lifetime exclusive with Verizon, so probably either never, or a very long time from now.

You could buy an unlocked Storm 9500 from Vodafone and use it on AT&T. No 3G, though.

That was the case with the 8830 it did not have North American GSM frequencies. The Storm does.

so assuming one got an unlocked storm and put an AT&T sim into it, obviously it would make phone calls, would the BIS plan work with it? i'm assuming so.

and since it has a 2100MHz HSPA radio, would it also work on AT&T 3G?

No 3G on AT&T AT&T uses 850/1900 for 3G
Here is a great source for network info:
GSM Coverage Maps | United States

There are many other issues, Service Books, unlocking, but yes it works.

not to discredit you, but i had my doubts. looked up the radio in the Bold, and for UMTS (3G) it uses 2100/1900/850 MHz, then of course for GSM it uses standard quad-band.

correct me if i'm wrong but the storm also uses a 2100MHz UMTS/HSPA frequency, and unless there is some other problem i'm not seeing, i think it would work, no?

Your not discrediting me at all. The Bold has 2100MHz for Europe, AT&T DOES NOT use 2100MHz.
