Default 8310 Cannot Type "enter" get b$ instead

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

This is a new one for me. I have an 8310, and before this started, I hadn't updated/changed anything in about 2 weeks. (Last change was removing from BES and going to BIS instead, and I have had no issues since, until this.)

I set my blackberry to automatically lock after a couple of minutes. I entered in my password just like I always do, but when I went to press "enter" I would get two new ** in the password field instead.

So I tried the following:
1. Removed the battery and put it back in. Same issue.
2. Connected via desktop software and made a backup. Was prompted for password and all was fine.
3. Used jl_cmder to reset to factory. Was able to log in and type to see what was going on. When I press enter, I get a b on the screen, and if I press it a couple of times, I get the popup asking if I want to set the currency key to dollar, euro, pound, etc. I chose dollar. Now I get b$ when I type enter.
4. Wiped the blackberry using jl_cmder. Loaded my OS (8310M_PBr4.5.0_rel152_PL2.7.0.90_A4.5.0.110_AT&T. exe). Let it reboot. Made a new note and tried out the enter key, same issue.

So do y'all think this is hardware, or are there other voodoo options anyone can think of?

Thanks,
Kristin

Sounds like moisture in/on the keyboard.

Wet hands, wet hair, sweaty pocket, steamy bathroom, high humidity environment, etc.

Agree with the above, sounds like it got wet. Or perhaps you dropped it?

The device must have gotten wet or you may have dropped it. Since $ is next to the enter key, the internal circuits may have gone bad. Try getting it dired out cmopletely in a service center.

Best way to dry it? Leave it in a bowl of rice. Let the rice absorb it out for you.
Its probably hardware. If you arent under warranty.. and water absorption dont work.. I cant think of how to help you..
