Default How well does snyc work? + Questions about BB

Please Login to Remove!

I'm waiting on my aunts old BB to get here. Any ways I know its a Curve. What kind I got not clue.

Okay worst cace its a super old curve.

I asume they all can run BB os 5,6,7. Can they all run 7? Do they all have Wi-fi? With that does it matter the password encription?

Okay now I own a macbook running 10.7 and I installed the BB software. (Useless now yes)

But how well does the snyc from BB to Adress book and Ical? I need to keep emails, Birthdays and numbers.
Also what can snyc besides that?
I have an Ipod so I could care less about my itunes snycing with BB.

I was going to use evernote for snycing my notes but I need data \ wif I asume and that has nothing to do with Rim or BB its a third party app.
I have it on my mac and I use it for writing, I know theres an app in the app world.

Would I need to upgrade the 2gb micro sd card in it? I got a 4gb liying about. and I was planing on buying a 32gb micro sd. I got a deal for 2 for 1.

Also I see tons and tons of lame apps? Why do they exist? Just like a ton of unlocking your phone apps. They seem kind of useless. I seen them in the app store and its so disorganized.
Is it a rim problem? Seems a lot like the android store.

Sorry I'm sounding stupid, Just I never had a BB and I'm use to apples Iworld.

You will need to find out what exact model number "curve" before most of those questions can be answered.

If it is "old", then it likely will not be able to run OS 7 or OS 6 and maybe not OS 5.

Also, the OS version will determine if it can support a 32GB Media Card.

Do they all "have the ball": no - it depends on the model
Do they all have WiFi: no - it depends on the model (but most do).

BUMP!
Okay its a BB 8330

I checked with wikipedia
NO Wi-fi - Baugh!
So umm what can I do with it. No sim card. So how will I move my current phone number over? Would I need to call telus?

Now because if I moved it over do I need a data plan now? I'm hoping my aunt made a mastake on tying and its the I verson for the wifi.

The 8330 does not have WiFi.

The most stable OS for the device is 4.5. There is a version of OS5 running around, but for my old 8330, it ran terrible with it.

Yes, you would need to contact Telus to have them activate it with your number. You would have to check with them if they require a dataplan or not. Most carriers in the US do. It may be different for you.

Well Telus is some what like at&t I would say.
Knowing at&t then I need to slap in like Blackberry social or a data plan. That sucks now.

Well I am thinking about going to koodo. So That might be the final kick for me, Unless a Iphone 5 comes out by april-mayish. and I can get a good deal for telus or another company.

I dont want to pay an outragous amount to have a BB or Iphone though. I was hoping this BB had a sim slot.

If you plan to go to Koodo, check to see if they allow non-Koodo devices on their network. Most CDMA carriers in the US do not allow other devices on their network.

They do, but If I change I will take a new phone I dont want to keep a phone that old around for long, Plus I do travle to the states and I would not be able to use my At&t pre payed sim.

So I need to keep the old phone around even when its not working.

Kind of sucks but I'm stuck. Plus I have another tech device to add to my collection.

Sucks for me because I have no wifi for the phone then. Kind of ruined my dreams oh well.

Just because there is only one computer between me and my roommate.

Is there any irc porgrams for this phone? Guess skype is out of the question.
MSN I would think would work
BBM? I dont care if its the old one. as long as I can BBM with my aunt's.

Yes, there is BeeJive IM, IM+, etc for your IMing needs.

BBM works on the device as well, but you will need a BB data plan for any of them to work.

I see that now Telus offers a
Email plus IM for BB now would this include BBM? its the same price as BBM but I rather Emails.
I could care less for Lamebook\lamespace
Or would it be wise to get data? like 6 gigs for 30 bucks.

Would make my bill like 70$ though.
Tellus is stupid for data I find.

I would just call and ask if anything.

I think you're better off asking Telus those questions. I am not familiar with what they offer.

As for the plan, it depends on how you plan to use the device.
