Default Html 5 apps / websites

I was wondering why developers dont just focus there time and energy creating html 5 sites, which can be used across all tablet Platforms.. instead of creating apps for each devices.. the truth is.. Developers will focus there time and energy to the popular ones it makes finacial sense.... but as the Tech world grows it wont be a single OS dominace anymore...

if you are not familar with what am talking about.. see espn.com they just recently updated there sites to support html 5.. when you use your tablet.. it breaksdown the sites.. different from what you will see on a laptop.. and it is pretty seamless. not as seamless as an app., but you wont really be able to tell the diffrence in perfomance...

what are your thoughts.
