Has anyone successfully put BES on this O/S yet (32bit version, I know it wont work on the 64 bit one)

We have a number of clients who want to upgrade to 2008 now and they all have BES. I know BES is ok with Exchange 2007 and BES 4.1.3 onward but wondering about 2008 O/S.

a simple search would have shown several threads about windows server 2008, and the general feeling here is to wait on putting a BES on it, as it is just too new an OS. I don't think anyone here has even attempted it yet.

I honestly would only use server 2008 for either a file server or a domain controller (maybe not even that). It is far too new for it to be running any application that does not specifically state that is is compatible. Especially in a production environment.

Even if you got it up and running what is to say that some functions that are not completely transparent don't work? You don't take risks on production servers, EVER. So until RIM gives the OK, stick with 2003.

I am staying with 2000 Advanced server until it is not supported or we get a new VMWare server.

I haven't tried it; I'm sticking to 2008 64-bit only ... regardless it isn't supported at this point, and you'd have a hard time getting support for it; both through RIM and here.

Microsoft just recently released the mapi collaboration data objects 1.2.1 for windows server 2008.

But even with this update, it still will not work with BES because mapi32.dll is now a protected file. If you are unable to update that file with extended mapi, then bes will not work since that is what bes points to in order to create a mapi profile.

Just for kicks, I tried installing BES 4.1.5 and Dom 8.0.1 on a new Windows 08Box, but i suggest against it for its not supported yet and not simple. I ended up rolling the box back to Server 2003 R2 to install BES and Domino. Give it some time and 08 will be supported.

Default BB Professional on 64 bit W2003 and 64 bit Exchange

I have just read this thread because I would like to solve my problem: My problem is, whether is possible to install and run Blackberry Professional Server 4.1.4A on the same HW as Windows 2003 64 bit with MS Exchange 2007 64 bit.
I tried the installation, but after finishing it, I was not able to use web access to Exchange mailboxes (OWA).
I suppose it might be due to MS .NET Framework 32 bit version, which was installed during BES installation.

Thanks for support - Lubos
