Default SRP Disconnected after knife-edge cutover

Please Login to Remove!

Title says it all. Cutover of 4.1.4 Blackberry Professional. Went line for line through the knife-edge cutover walkthrough including the backing up and restoring of databases.

I went through and verified/fixed everything in this document:

BlackBerry Search Results

And I still get SRP Disconnected as well a a few warnings and errors in the event logs related to Blackberry Services.

If I disable all BES services on the new server and turn everything back on on the old server, BES works just fine, SRP is connected. What did I do wrong or what do I have to do to fix this to complete the cutover? Thanks so much in advance.

Us the firewall allowing 1301 on the new server (I think that's the port)

It's port 3101, not 1301.

Can you post the warnings/errors you're seeing?

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BlackBerry Synchronization Service
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20000

And then obviously within Blackberry Manager, it shows that the SRP is disconnected.

When you open the BlackBerry Configuration Utility there is a BB Server tab, I believe that one has the Router host. Make sure it says localhost and not the machine name or IP.

Then try testing the SRP connection and the DB connection within the utility.

I already checked that. It was part of the troubleshooting steps in this link:

BlackBerry Search Results

I checked and verified all 6 steps are good to go.

Stupid question, do you shutdown the old BES before starting the new one?

If all those tests pass the machine should connect.

Yeah the old server services are shut off, including SQL.

Funny thing is when I run the setup.exe for BES on that server, it tells me it has detected more than one blackberry professional server in the Blackberry domain. No idea what that means or if that has anything to do with it.

All the test connections to the SRP work fine from the new server. I do have a problem with some services coming up before SQL is ready, but I setup things so that is fixed. All services running, SQL running...everything looks good. Blackberry Manager just says SRP: Disconnected.

And Router service is running? I mean can you browse Internet from new BES? Proxy?

He's been through those already.

All SRP and DB connections tests pass. Which makes this evenmore weird.

What happens if you stop the services on the new BES and start them on the old BES? Does the SRP connect?

Yeah I currently failed back to the original BES server so at least I'm running. But we want decommission that server so we are anxious to get it off.

It just doesn't make any sense. I've gone through the knife-edge cutover twice and get the same results. I don't know why the SRP can't connect.

MSDE or SQL? Have you tried to connect to a same database rather then new one as it seems to me that is something that is giving you headaches. So during install you point to a current SQL database. How many users do you have anyway?

SQL 2005 Express on both old and new. We have about 8 users. I know we could just start over and wipe the phones but the licensing gives me a major pain in the ass. Also, I am so close and if we could avoid wiping phones it would be preferable.

You received the "one blackberry professional server in the Blackberry domain" because your BES Pro server name during the cutover was defaulting to the new server's netbios name, instead of manually typing in the old bes name at that period of time.

BPS does not support the "BlackBerry domain", so if it finds a conflict with 2 or more server names, it will produce that error.
