Thank You for the serious response, Well i called and spoke to the repair shop again and the technician said the phone is savable and he just needs to tweak a couple things and it should be fine. He said the phone froze a couple times he didnt elaborate how, but said it in such away that it wasnt a big deal. I am running the .75 OS. I created this thread for other people like myself who googled there phone and the incident and were worried, so they hopefully dont have to go through the anxiety I have. The thing is the phone has never frozen up before but I have only had it 5 days. I appreciate your response and i will know for certain tomorrow if it works but things are looking good. Ill put up the final update tomorrow.

A friend of mine asked Verizon about how best to clean gunk out from around the screen because he was worried it would eventually mess up the phone. They told him not to worry because the underside of the touchscreen (and access to the inside of the phone) is completely surrounded by a rubber seal and that nothing could get through it to the inside of the phone. Now the buttons may be a different story....

BTW, they said to use a can of compressed air to clean around the screen.

and i had to reply so i signed up.

what you SHOULDN'T do when ANY phone gets wet.
is let it dry. because water doesn't damage the device.
it is the combination of air and water. so by letting your device dry out, you are slowly torturing your device by letting air come to the water.
best thing you can do when a phone gets wet is put it in a air sealed bag.
and put it in the freezer. sounds silly.. but it works.

it saved 2 of my phones over the years.

Can you please explain your whole theory? How it's not water that's harmful to your phone, but the combination of water + air?... and how turning that water, that is still in your phone, to ice... is going to solve anything... being that after you take it out of the freezer the ice will simply turn back into water...and is still INSIDE your phone?

I'm confused

In my head... water + electronics = bad. That combination causes short circuits and "fries" your phone. Air flow through your wet device evaporates the moisture in your device. A dry device = good. A device with frozen water inside simply delays the inevitable... once you take your frozen phone out to thaw... the ice will melt back to water... and you'll still have to air dry that phone before you can turn it on... or else it will short circuit and die.

Am I crazy?

Doesn't water expand when it freezes? IMHO when you take the device out to thaw it the water will condense and thus create more damage.

I'd take that a step further...water + electronics <> bad, water and powered on electronics = bad.

I spent some time a bunch of years ago at an electronics OEM plant in their factory repair department, and the first thing they did when something came in for repair is take it apart and run the pieces through a hi-temp dishwasher. Yes, a dishwasher, Hobart LX-18 if my memory serves me correctly. After they were done in the dishwasher we hit them with a high pressure air hose to speed assist the drying, then put it all back together. 75% of the time this is all that was done to "repair" an item.

it could still be wet somewhere on the board. i droped my 8700 once in the sink and there was a pot full of water and took it out dry it and then plaed it next to the heater duct for a week and then i placed a battery in it fired right up with no issues at all

This is crazy. You can do this all you want but I am warning members NOT to do this. Hey Bluzark....why don't you use the microwave to "defrost" your BB using the microwave after you turn it into a block of ice.

I'm sorry but I'm stil laughing about this advice and the term phone "condom" used for the rubber phone sleave.

Going back to what "bluzark" said, sorry but this is the most ridiculous and assinine thing I've ever heard!....lol. Don't know where you got your electronics degree from friend but please don't give us advice to completely damage our devices to the point of NO RETURN!

And what's worse is that if the device is powered on too soon after coming out of the freezer, condensation will begin to form inside, adding more moisture to the problem. Unless you plan on bringing it back up to temp slowly by placing in the refrigerator first, you're only adding to your problems.

This issue came to light when I had a user ruin a laptop because he stored it in the trunk of his car until he needed it. Going from powered off @ 10 degrees to powered on @ 70 degrees over and over just corroded the guts.

I have to agree, I don't see how putting a wet phone in an air tight bag into a freezer will help anything? My daughter got some water on a phone of hers one time and the first thing I did was pull the battery then let the phone just sit for about 3-4 days with it exposed to air as much as possible. Put the battery back in, no problems. The key is to get the battery out ASAP. The water will not do the damage as bad as water and electrical current will. Then leave it "open" to the air for a few days to a week. A can of air would probably help too. The idea is to get it as dry as possible before getting electric current back into the mix again. And what I mean by "open" is battery cover off, and if you can take it apart as much as possible so air can dry it out good.
