Default Changing the account BES runs as

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all. When I installed BES v4 (MSDE) it asked for the password for the Administrator account and installed as that, with all services running as domain\administrator.

I need to change this to our serviceaccount. Other than changing the name the services run as, is there anything else I need to change?

The actual admin mailbox account for the BES is BESAdmin so this won't change.

Any help appreciated

just make sure that the service account have logon as a service rights and have read/send as rights on exchange , and read rights to exchange org config.

Bad admin bad!
You should've done it the way the manuals say... doing anything as domain admin is a bad idea, really.
Anyhow, as long as each account has the proper permissions, you should be fine.

You could always just uninstall as administrator, login as your service account and reinstall that way. Its the cleaner, less band-aid approach to the situation. Database would remain intact and you would only have to add the users back (which you can simply export those and import them back, losing no info). I would say that, with the reboots, it would be perhaps a 30 minute process (depending on your hardware since the reboots would be the longest part if you have a RAID controller and whatnot).

You don't even need to reinstall. One of my managed BES servers was installed as Administrator, not a separate user.

We created the proper user, gave it the correct rights, then changed the login information under Services for each BES service. Restarted the services and it was back in business.

I've done this too - if you have remote SQL and are using Windows Authentication, be sure to grant the service account the DBO privilege in the database.
