Default BYO Magnet?

Just wondering...is the magnet in the Pearl holsters that put it into standby special in some way, or will pretty much any small magnet put it into standby if it is placed on or near the right spot on the phone?

Wirelessly posted (SAMSUNG-SGH-I607/I607FG1 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 320x240) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

pretty much any magnet will do! just make sure it isnt to powerful or you could cause problems for your phone

You can use a small magnet. I put one into my NiteIze case and it works fine. The trick is ensuring it covers The sensor.

Thanks...that's what I was hoping. Maybe I'll have a small magnet surgically implanted in my thigh so the Pearl will go into standby when I put it in my pocket... ;)

The ones sold at most home centers (Lowes, Home Depot) will work. Look at the circular ones about the size of a quarter. They work fine.

I carry one of these in my pocket, and for some reason anytime I hold my phone it shuts off, what am I doing wrong? Also, anytime I put the phone down and leave the room the phone turns back on... very curious.

Note: Thank you, that was the joke.

Thanks, Phillyguy, for the reference to the source/size for magnets that work, appreciate it. (Also appreciate your Philly Cheese Steak...great idea!)

No problem.

I wish I could take credit for the Cheese Steak, but I can't. If you're in town, go to Tony Luke's for an Italian Special.

PS - if you go to a place and has a "Philly Cheese Steak" on the menu, don't order it. If it has to state "Philly" it ain't the real thing.

Yes, a dream of mine is to eat one while walking through the heart at the Franklin Institute, just for the irony.
